Morning Protein Smoothie

I was messing around in the kitchen this morning and wanted to make my mom a protein smoothie. I’m a little inexperienced when it comes to smoothie making so this was a total experiment. I just grabbed stuff I had the fridge, some vanilla whey protein powder, and went to town!

1 banana
4 strawberries
1/4c blueberries
6 ice cubes
1 dollop of plain nonfat greek yogurt
1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder
splash of unsweetened almond milk

Pretty simple but pretty delicious. We even got the strawberries from the farmer’s market and they were some of the biggest strawberries I’ve ever seen!

Toss all the ingredients in the blender and go nuts!

It wasn’t half bad for an amateur smoothie maker!

Our Farmer’s Market Haul

As you can see, my family definitely didn’t skimp out on the vegetables at the farmer’s market! They were all surprisingly affordable as well, which was definitely a plus. We’ve been having way too much fun with all of these veggies and my mom’s new juicer.

I think I’m probably going to have to buy my own juicer. A little on the pricey side for a good one but so worth it! Just really simple juice recipes are absolutely delicious and really healthy for you. It’s so exciting!

Got To Love Farmer’s Markets

I love farmer’s markets and today was the perfect opportunity to go load up on fresh fruits and veggies because not only was it a gorgeous day outside but we also just bought my mom a new juicer and needed to try it out!

Farmer’s markets are also just so much fun. The people watching and trying new and exciting fresh food. It’s just all around such a happy place. If you get a chance to get your fresh food at a farmer’s market, I highly highly suggest it. Makes buying groceries much more of an experience instead of a chore (not that I think it’s a chore! I love it!).

I’ll post up some pictures of our veggie loot soon! You can already catch a sneak peek on my instagram! @helloskinnys
